Nominating our youth to the Uniformed Service Academies is one of the highest honors bestowed upon members of Congress. Senator Alsobrooks takes pride in the potential panelists we have lined up this year. In addition, in the FRA Preamble it states that members can "assist in obtaining the best type of personnel for our sea services." This will be your opportunity to assist with these interviews.
We would like to invite any FRA Branch 24 member who served in the Navy or Marine Corps to complete the Service Academy Nominations Interest Form attached below, if you would like to serve on a panel to interview perspective applicants who desire to attend the US Naval Academy. This team will be volunteers working under the office of Senator Angela Alsobrooks. If you are interested in participating, please complete the attached Google Form and follow the directions to submit it no later than August 28, 2026.
Senator Alsobrooks' staff will be conducting a primary orientation briefing in late October. This will likely be during the week but will be recorded and distributed to panel members who are unable to attend. There will be an additional refresher brief conducted after-hours on the Fridays prior to the panels. Those dates are November 6th and November 20th.
Interviews of the perspective Naval Academy applicants will be conducted virtually on November 7th and November 21st. These are both Saturdays in order to prevent the applicants from missing classes during the week and to accommodate your work or activity schedules. Not every panelist will be conducting interviews on both Saturdays. If we hit our goal for panelists you will be scheduled for a single day. Once our panels are finalized later this month we will work with you to figure out which day you will conduct your interviews.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact Josh Bales, Stars of Valor Fellow/Constituent Services Representative, direct via email or his mobile number listed below!

Our Centennial Oral History Project was a 12-month project that launched in 2023 and collected more than 5,000 oral histories. Many of the stories were printed in a commemorative book. It was a success as we reconnected with over 1,075 members renewed their membership. We appreciate the participation of so many Shipmates in the project and thank you for sharing your stories. With the commemorative book your memories will live on for future generations.
The 2025 Project
Shipmates have a story, and the Fleet Reserve Association wants to hear yours. That’s why we’ve decided to embark on a new project called Shipmate Memories an FRA Oral History Project to collect the stories of Shipmates like you in your own words. These stories will be preserved in a book that celebrates the impact your sea service had on your lives and who you are today. Every year we don’t capture and preserve these stories feels like another opportunity lost, so we’re excited to get started today!
Have You Moved?
As part of this project, we are also taking this opportunity to help make it easier for you to stay connected to your fellow shipmates. PCI will help us collect updated contact information from those of you who may have moved, switched from a landline to a mobile phone, changed your email address and inadvertently lost touch with your Branch or fellow service members.

The Fleet Reserve Association is the oldest and largest association representing enlisted Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel. Established in 1924, FRA's mission is to safeguard the pay, benefits, and entitlements of the active duty, reserve, and retired members of the Sea Services.
Membership in the FRA is open to all enlisted personnel of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Commissioned Officers of the Sea Services that have at least one day of prior enlisted service are eligible to join too.
Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) Annapolis Branch 24 is home of Auxiliary (LAFRA) Annapolis Unit 24 and Fleet Reserve Club (FRC). The FRC also welcomes other Active Duty, Reserve, Retired, honorably discharged Veterans of the United States Armed Forces as FRC Associate Members.
Member benefits include parking while on the club premises, use of the waterfront club facilities (dining room, bar, meeting rooms, banquet facilities), and reciprocal membership with other Fleet Reserve Clubs for members who meet FRA eligibility requirements.
Let your voice be heard by being a part of one of the longest and influential Associations advocating for your benefits. We strive to protect your retirement and work on current issues affecting military personnel and their families.
